Lilla Rose Review and Giveaway

I'm always on the lookout for products that promote femininity in ladies. When I came across Lilla Rose, I was delighted! If you are looking for hair clips, necklaces or earrings that are beautiful and yet simple and modest, look no further! Lilla Rose offers the neatest alternative to the huge jaw clip that so many of us wear. The Flexi Clip is a unique hair clip that has a patented sliding pin that truly does stay in your hair! The beaded wire around the pin flexes around your hair, to grip to the different hair styles you wear.

Whatever hair style you normally wear, the flexi clip should work! You can wear it long, and pulled back just a little, pulled back in a pony tail, up in a french twist, or just twisted up as you normally do with a jaw clip. There are 6 different sizes of flexi clips-starting with mini for a little girl and going on up to extra-large. This clip works for all hair styles, thin, thick, silky, and curly.

The Bobby Pins look so pretty! I use bobby pins in my hair a lot to hold back some side bangs, and these would be perfect. They would look a lot dressier in my hair than just a plain bobby pin.

The silver Heart Earrings are my favorite! I love wearing earrings. With Olivia about to turn one, she is quick to find any necklace I wear, so I have to be really careful when I wear one. Earrings are so easy to put in and not fuss over, and they make me feel so girly! These earrings are only $12.00!

This beautiful necklace is just $13.00 and would make a perfect gift for someone!

Paula Ramn is a consultant of Lilla Rose, and she is a delightful lady! I have corresponded with her for advertising on my blog, and she has been charming to work with. She shared with me some exciting news. Until December 5th, any order placed at Lilla Rose gets FREE SHIPPING! There is no minimum, so now is the best time to place an order if you are interested. These would be fantastic Christmas Presents for your Daughter, Sister, Mother, Friend, Aunt, Cousin, Grandma...and the list could go on!

Happy Thanksgiving...and info on Black Friday!

I hope you all have a blessed Thanksgiving Holiday! We are busy at my house cleaning for hosting a family gathering on Saturday. Tomorrow we go to my Husband's Grandpa's house for a Thanksgiving Dinner. I actually think I'm going to be brave enough to hit a few Black Friday sales on Friday. I need some Corelle Dishes and Walmart has an amazing price on them! It helps that I live about 2 minutes away from Walmart. :-)

Speaking of Black Friday, The Modest Mom is going to be having their own Black Friday Sale that will be this Friday and Saturday! On top of the free shipping code (50FREESHIP) when you buy $50 worth, I'm also going to be having a sale on the skirts!! The skirts don't go on sale very often, so if you are needing some new modest skirts now is the time to get them!

I also just read that Vision Forum is having a Black Friday sale that starts today, and goes until Saturday. It's a great sale! When you buy 2 items, you get a third item FREE of equal or lesser value! They also still have items on sale, so this is a fantastic time to stock up for Christmas gifts!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Have you noticed that we have new sponsors to our website? Paula's Bread is a fantastic company that offers Bosch mixers, Stainless Steel Cooking Supplies, Grain Grinders, and lots, lots more! I received my Bosch Mixer as a Birthday Present one year, and I just love it!
Lilla Rose is a new company to me, and I have been delighted to discover them! They offer such pretty, feminine products and I can't wait to try some hair clips from them. The flexi clip would make a great Christmas Present for a daughter, Niece, Friend, or yourself!
Some great resources for Christian Toys!
I love sharing about companies that have blessed my family. Vision Forum rates high on the list of a company that has encouraged us, and helped us press on. They started a 48 hour sale on toys that ends tomorrow night. Every toy they sell is 20-50% off! My children love to look through the catalog, and have their favorite toys picked out they would like to own.
Toys for Girls
My two year old loves to look at the dolls, and talk about their pretty dresses! The Liberty Doll would be a sweet doll for any little girl to own!
I plan on getting the Princess Virginia Dress for my little girl when she gets a bit older. It is so sweet, and I know she will love to play dress up with it.
This Pink Cowgirl hat is perfect for the little girl who loves to follow her brothers around and play cowboys!
My little girl loves to push her dolls around in her stroller. I like that this one has a basket in the back to put things. She would fill it up with doll clothes to carry around!
For Boys
My boys love to play with their legos. I think it is the toy that is played with the most at our house, outside of guns. :-) The Military Special Forces would thrill any little boy!
While my boys are far to young for this Airsoft Handgun With Laser, they think it is the neatest thing they have ever seen!
My boys love to play dress up-especially my five year old. He loves to dress up as a cowboy. This outfit looks like it would hold up well to little boys playing in it.
I'll let you in on a secret. :-) We are getting the book "With My Rifle By My Side" for my five year old for Christmas. I have seen this book in person, and really like it a lot. The illustrations are done well, something that is important to my family since I'm married to an artist.
I hope you enjoy browsing through Vision Forum as much as I do. Please do know that I recently became an affiliate of Vision Forum, so the above items have my affiliate link in them. I have already had some of you order through my affiliate link, and it is such a blessing to my family! Thank you so much! I only became an affiliate with the company because I love their products so much, and can personally rave about many of the items they sell!
To The Cross I Go...
Christian wallpaper background cross sky 63,000 plus views
As a new bride submission is a word that sounds easy to do.
This is an exciting journey and you are elated to be walking this road together. You are madly in love with your husband, everything he asks of you sounds lovely to do.
And then a few years pass. Several children have been added to your family, some heartaches have happened in your life. It could be a lost job, sickness, Church Problems, Extended Family Problems, or even a death in your family.
Suddenly you wake up one day and realize that you are tired. And the thought of submitting is overwhelming.
I have found this to be happening in my life lately. I am weary, discouraged, and lonely for my dearest Mother. My flesh just wants to scream out, and tell my family to leave me alone and let me mourn.
And then my husband brings me a hard thing, and asks me to submit...I rail inside and ask "why me?" My heart doesn't want to do it, but my head knows it is a Godly decision.
I find that I am being led in one direction through my struggling.
To the Cross.
I kneel there and lay down all my selfish thoughts and actions, and give them to Jesus. And then I do it the next day and the next hour and the next minute. Because it never ends. My flesh is weak, and even though I surrender it all, my inward wrestling's have a way of coming back again, and again, and again.
Who will go to the Cross with me today? Will you lay down your hopes and dreams, and pick up the desires of the Lord for you and live for Him? Today, will you choose to follow your husband, even though it may be hard? I have a feeling that we cannot begin to comprehend how blessed we will be one day if we sincerely give our all to this life. There is no higher calling for us as women than to be wives and mothers. Let us embrace it, with all of the indescribable joys and utter heartbreaking sorrows that come.
Lead me to the Cross....
In the Cross of Christ I Glory
Tow'ring o'er the wrecks of time,
All the light of sacred story
Gathers round its head sublime
When the woes of life e'er take me,
Hopes deceive and fears annoy,
Never shall the cross forsake me:
Lo! it glows with peace and joy.
When the sun of bliss is beaming
Light and love upon my way,
From the cross the radiance streaming
Adds new luster to the day.
Bane and blessing,
Pain and pleasure,
By the cross and sanctified:
Peace is there that knows no measure,
Joys that through all time abide.
Hymn written by John Bowring
Large Family Logistics Review and Giveaway
Sometimes God sends you something that you didn't even know how badly you need it. That's what happened when I was sent the "Large Family Logistics: The Art and Science of Managing the Large Family" by Kim Brenneman.
I would take a guess that I am not alone in my chaos of running a household with four children under seven. It is hard work. It is harder than I ever imagined going into Motherhood. The rewards are so worth it, and I feel incredibly blessed by my four children.
But things have barely been staying together in my household.
I was 11 when my Mom was diagnosed with Lupus. She was extremely sick off and on for years after that-only going in remission for a few years. Her energies were focused on homeschooling my sister, brother and I. Teaching me homemaking skills just was not possible for her. Once I was married and had my own home she began to see how much I struggled with tending my own home, and felt so bad. Organizing and homemaking skills comes very easily for my Mom and sister. To me-it is like a big jigsaw puzzle that is missing the picture on the box that shows you what it is supposed to look like.
The Large Family Logistics book is the picture of the jigsaw for me. I wanted to sit and have a good cry just a few minutes after browsing through this book. Several other well known homemaking books sit on my shelf, but they have been to in depth and overwhelming for me to even plunge in and start their methods. This is not the case with The Large Family Logistics book. Kim has a way of lovingly encouraging you each step of the way while clearly laying out for you what step to take! With 47 chapters, she has not missed one area in your home that needs attention-in fact she has covered several topics that I wouldn't even think of!
Kim originally started writing this book for her daughters after she struggled keeping her own home running smoothly after marriage. After 9 children she seems to have figured out a fabulous system for keeping her household running well.
Taken from the back of the book:
"Amidst the hurly-burly of managing a busy home, moms have many tasks to tackle and obstacles to overcome: the laundry monster, household clutter and cleaning needs, caring for babies and little ones, menu planning and mealtime routines, town outings, homeschooling, bill paying-and so much more!
This sensible and straightforward how-to manual by Kim Brenneman is filled with step-by-step procedures, easy-to-understand organizational advice, and a myriad of tips and hints for managing a bustling home with greater efficiency in a way that honors God and builds up family relationships. An invaluable home management resource that will equip busy moms to get beyond survival mode and thrive!
Problem-Solving How-Tos Include:
Fit it All in a Day
Take Control of Clutter
Conquer the Laundry Monster
Homeschool a Large Family
Manage Your Family's Expenses
Train Older Children to Help Younger Children
Achieve Good Physical Health
And Much More!
Michelle Duggar even has put her stamp of approval on the book!
"Large Family Logistics has lots of helpful ideas to encourage moms to prioritize their lives and get their surroundings organized using creative methods. These tips will free up time and allow moms to stay focused on their children's hearts." -Quote from Michelle Duggar
This book would make a perfect baby shower gift, and I feel this is a must have book for every Mom! If you are in need of some godly encouragement, get this book. It will encourage your weary heart in big ways.
Buy It!
You can buy this book at Vision Forum for $24.00. Until November 20th you can get it 20% off when you use the code ALLONSALE, AND get flat rate shipping of $5.00! This book is the size of a college textbook, and shipping is not cheap on it. This is a great way to get it a little cheaper!
Organizing the Homeschool Classroom
Homeschooling Mom's have a unique challenge. We have to not only keep up the cleaning, cooking, and laundry, we also have upkeep all of our home school supplies and make sure they stay organized! And if you are anything like I am you end up collecting quite a few books! I needed a place to keep the books we use on a daily basis, and this storage cart has worked out beautifully!
It had to be assembled when it arrived in the mail. Thankfully my woodworking husband was home, and he tackled the job for me! With some help from our sons, he got the job done in about 30 minutes. He said it wasn't hard at all.
Then we had cleanup time from all the lovely Styrofoam! The children had a blast playing with it all for a while.
In the first big container I put my oldest son's Math U See blocks and his math book. It is big enough that it holds all of it just right. He just pulls the whole container out each day and brings it to the table.
I have different subjects put in each drawer, so my son knows right where to go for his phonics, etc. My goal is to eventually have each drawer labeled so that it is even more organized. Like I said, that is my goal and it hasn't happened yet!
I keep my coloring books in one big drawer and a box of crayons. My 2 year old knows right where to go if she wants to color. I also keep some little containers of toys for school time. When things are about ready to fall apart, I can run in there and grab a container of toys for my 2 year old, and keep her busy while I try and stay sane!
So far the cart has help up well with constant use from children. I have been pleased with it. My only complaint is that the plastic drawers do not glide as well as I would like. They sometimes have little plastic shavings come off the sides of the drawers when you are closing it. I think the drawer openings could be made a little tighter. Overall though it has endured our hard use on it!
These storage carts can be found at teacher stores, and I have seen them at Mardel Bookstore. Or you can purchase it online here.
Thanks to Alvin company for providing me this product to review. All my thoughts are strictly my own and I was not paid to write any of them.
Exciting news for the Duggars!
I just love the Duggar family! In spite of all the criticism they have fly their way they stand strong and firm in their resolve to welcome more babies sent from the Lord.
Now they are being blessed with a new grandchild again! Praise the Lord!
Thanksgiving Crafts!
I've been seeing different links posted online for Thanksgiving crafts, and I wanted to compile some of my favorite ones and share them! We are trying to sell our house right now, so I have only a few Thanksgiving/fall items out. I love decorating for the holidays, and I plan on decorating for Christmas-provided we haven't sold our house!
This Thanksgiving Display board has to be my top favorite I have seen. It looks easy to do, and you could change the wording around to say anything! Some words I have thought of doing were Love for my bedroom, and put pictures of my husband and I under it. Faith for our dining room, and maybe write out scriptures and hang under it. The ideas are endless!
You could make Turkey Chalkboard Place Cards for your dinner table! That looks like a lot of fun. Everyone could write down what they are thankful for, and have a time of sharing at the meal.
Here is a great craft you could do with your little children-A festive Apple Turkey. I might have to do this with my children. They would have a blast making that-and eating the marshmallows also!
This free download looks fantastic! Paper Glitter created a complete Table Decor theme that you can use for your Thanksgiving Dinner Table. I'm hoping to be able to use a few of these items this year.
And here is a link to a lot of paper type crafts that are easy to do with children.
Scentsy Review and Giveaway!!
I love candles. When I walk into a house with candles lit it makes me feel all warm and cozy inside. My Mother-In-Law always has a candle lit in her living room when she knows we are coming over. It is a small thing, but I have always appreciated it.
Once I started having children I realized that candles had to be put up high, and monitored. The days are long gone where I could light candles all over the house for when my husband walked in the door!
I started reading reviews online of Scentsy warmers and was intrigued. Scentsy sells decorative warmers designed to melt scented wax with the heat of a light bulb instead of a traditional wick and flame. I was always curious how they would work, and recently I had the opportunity to review one.
I was sent a classic black warmer, and a scentsy bar of scented wax. I choose the Clove & Cinnamon smell as it reminds me of my Mom so much! She would always put cinnamon sticks on the stove in some water to make the house smell good.
I put the warmer in my bathroom and I love it! When I turn it on it lights up from the light bulb being in there. It takes about 5 minutes for the wax to melt and even less time for a pleasant aroma to fill the air. The Clove and Cinnamon is just right. I can be sensitive to fragrances, but this has such a nice smell to it!
I would highly recommend these to all Moms of children. The warmer does not get hot enough that a child would get burned touching it, and you don't have the fear of a fire starting from a candle burning. Now is a perfect time to get a Scentsy burner. You can make your house smell great for your holiday gatherings! Or you can buy one as a gift for that person who you can't decide what they would like.
Scentsy has an amazing selection of warmers-all different styles. You are sure to find a scent you like as they have pages to choose from in their catalog!
Buy It!
You can buy a Scentsy warmer for $15-$30. The bars are $5 each, and the bricks are $20.
Win It!
Two different people can win an item from Scentsy! One person will win a $10.00 gift card, and the other person will win a plug in warmer and a bar of their choosing. To enter-Go to Scentsy and pick out your favorite warmer or scent! Leave a comment telling me what it would be. This is required before the other entries count.
EXTRA ENTRIES!
NOTE: THERE ARE NEW WAYS TO EARN EXTRA ENTRIES!!
You can do any of these things for an extra entry. Make sure to leave a separate comment for EACH thing you do. Feeling Battle Weary? Remember Irena
My husband and I watched a movie Saturday night that was very convicting and humbling. It made me realize how much more effort I could be putting forth into doing good for others-even just my own children.
We watched a Hallmark Hall of Fame movie that was about Irena Sendler. I had heard a sermon preached about her, and that was all I knew concerning her life. She lived during the Holocaust, and rescued 2500 Jewish Children from the Ghetto, and smuggled them to Polish families or to Catholic Orphanages. Those families took them in and raised them up until the war was over, and their parents returned, or continued to raise them if their families never did return-which I'm sure happened many times over.
Irena's own father died from typhoid given to him from taking care of Jews. He was one of the first Polish Socialists. He taught Irena that "if you see a person drowning, you must jump into the water to save them, whether you can swim or not." Irena took that to heart, and later it would be very evident in her life that she jumped in to help save people who were drowning-they were about to be killed.
Irena was a social worker who had links with Zegota, the code name for The Council For Aid To The Jews. She was sent into the Ghetto - a place where the Jews were contained until they were sent to death camps. She brought them food, water, and a vaccination against typhoid. Quickly she realized that the best way she could help them would be to start smuggling the children out.
After enlisting the aid of some other social workers, she started smuggling children out with gunnysacks, suitcases, and coffins. An ambulance driver smuggled children out underneath stretchers. One six month old baby was smuggled out in a mechanics tool box. That baby would later show her thanks by taking care of Irena at the end of her life.
Irena was finally caught, and tortured horribly. Even after her legs and feet were broken, and she was permanently scarred, she never betrayed the system that rescued those children, or the children themselves. She was sentenced to death, but the Zegota were able to bribe some guards to release her.
She lived until she was 98, and passed away in 2008. Her story is amazing; her bravery to give up her life for the sake of children she would never see again is beautiful.
Learning more about her left me reflecting on the battles that we fight today. We are so blessed that in our country we do not live in such horrid times as she did. We have much freedom, even though it is slowly being taken. We still have a great many blessings and freedoms to be thankful for.
What do we have to fight against for our children's sake?
I believe it is the culture we fight. We fight to train our children to stay on course - follow the path that is laid before them. We fight to train them to forsake the world - to be in it but not of it. Some of us have family "persecution" (believe me, with a lower case "p" compared to Irena's story) by the choices we make for our families. Sometimes this fight leaves us feeling all alone.
As for me and my house....
We fight against Adultery-we teach our children that when you take your vows it is a promise before God that you will remain faithful to each other (in every way) for the rest of your life.
We fight for the sanctity of marriage-that the ONLY way marriage can be blessed by God are those marriages between a man and a woman. Marriage is not between a man and man, or a woman and a woman. We try to support companies who uphold this, and we try very hard as a family to not support companies where homosexual lifestyles are openly supported-Target, Home Depot, and McDonald's being three of the most prominent that we know of.
We fight against the holocaust of our day - the many unborn babies who die before ever being cherished in their mothers' arms. Every day in America an average of 3,700 children die from abortion. It is estimated that 11-17 million people died during the Holocaust. Each year, an estimated 50 million children die from abortion.
We fight for our freedoms to remain - freedom to raise our children how we see fit. Not how the government sees fit.
We fight against the culture that teaches children to grow up showing disrespect for their parents; that you need a boyfriend/girlfriend at 13; that once you hit 18 you can't wait to leave home. We fight for modesty, for purity, for virtue - in short we fight for scriptural truths.
"And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee; for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake; for when I am weak, then am I strong."
2 Corinthians 12:9-10
"I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus." Philippians 3:14
Keep pressing onward and upward!
Review and giveaway of Hannah's Hair Bow Boutique!
I love for my girls to look cute and dressed up-even if it isn't Sunday! Having girls has been SO much fun! Getting to put adorable stuff in their hair is a blast. Even before my baby girl was quite ready, I was putting little clips in her hair, holding down her fuzz. :-)
A friend of mine from church recently had a little girl, and ever since she was born little Hannah can be found with an adorable bow atop her head! Her Mom has had so much fun making her daughter hair bows, that she decided to open up her own business online-so Hannah's Hair Bows was created.
Jessica gave me two hair bows to review-one bow for Carrianna and a bow on a headband for Olivia. They are really sweet! The hair bow for Carrianna is put on a clippy, and it stays in her ponytail good.
The headband for Olivia is my favorite! It has really sweet pink flowers on it and a tiny bow, making it look so delicate and yet girly for my sweet baby. The headband fits her well also.
(Don't you love her wild hair!)
The best thing about Hannah's Hair Bows? Her prices! I have looked around at other online hair bow boutiques, and I think Jessica has amazing prices for super good quality bows. If you are needing to order some frilly bows for that special girl in your life, Hannah's Hair Bows is a great place to get them. Her shipping is a flat rate of only $2.00-no matter how much you order. She has some holiday bows out-plus you can design your own bow with your choice of ribbon and clips!
