Modest Mondays {and a Link Up!}

This has been a long week of sick children, the house being a mess, a blog transfer that has had some big complications, and feeling overwhelmed. Needless to say I didn't take any pictures this week! Thankfully these were some I had taken several weeks ago intending to use for Modest Monday. 

I'm hopeful this week will be better as my baby is doing a little better tonight. I don't like it when my little babies get sick! We've all had colds, but she got it the worst.

Mondays Monday's Outfit {And a Link Up!}

We joined a homeschool coop this past week, which is a new experience for us! I'm excited over the opportunity for my children to learn different subjects than what we are doing at home. They are doing theatre, sign language, geography, and Space. I'm in the nursery for the afternoon doing a literature class with the little ones and just helping out.

The outfit below is what I wore to the coop Thursday.

Modest Mondays {and a Link Up!}

Today's Modest Monday outfit shows what I wore to church yesterday. My sister and I went shopping Saturday at Target and Maurices and I bought two scarves while I was out, which was a splurge for this mama. :) They were so pretty though, and just what I had been looking for. So I picked an outfit out to wear based on one of the scarfs. 

Outfit

Top: Cream Sweater - hand me down from my sister. 

Skirt: Midnight Stretch Skirt from The Modest Mom. 

Pantyhose: Spanx brand (they are so comfortable! I only wear hose to church or other special occasions though. I wear leggings or warm  knee high socks during the week). 

Shoes:  My black shoes are from Walmart.  

Accessories 

Scarf: Soutash Lace Scarf from Maurices

Earrings: Antique Pink Earrings from Wired Vintage on Etsy

Flexi Clip: My hair is pulled back in a flexi clip from Lilla Rose ( Circle of hearts and flowers clip is 30% for a few more days! ).

Modest Monday {And A Link Up!}

Today we have something special! Two friends of mine graciously agreed to be highlighted on Modest Monday, so their pictures are below. I hope that these weekly pictures are giving you inspiration and new ideas on how to dress modestly! 

Jessica from Candle in the Night blog  is a mommy of two little girls 21 months and under. So she is busy! She still manages to get to church looking cute and put together! 

I love Jessica's scarf, it really adds a lot to her whole outfit. She is wearing boots, which adds a whole different feel to the outfit than if she had worn black dress shoes. 

You can't see the back of her hair, but it was gorgeous! She had it curled and pulled up in a flexi clip from Lilla Rose. 

Jessica is a nursing mom, so while she looks very put together and cute, this outfit is also practical and meets the demands of a little girl who wants to eat and cuddle with her mommy! 

Patty is a mom of two little boys two and under. Patty's strength in her wardrobe is that she knows what colors complement her red hair (which is beautiful! ). Wearing the right colors for your skin and hair makes a huge difference. You can look glowing and alive, or washed out and blah depending on what colors you wear. 

Patty is a nursing mother also. She is wearing a nursing dress but you can't tell since she wears a pretty sweater over it. A necklace adds a simple touch to her dress. She has brown Mary Jane type shoes on (sorry I cut her shoes off in the picture).

Modest Monday Outfit!

Today's outfit is what I wore Saturday. I have heard some women say they could never clean the house in a skirt, but this is the outfit I wore to tidy up the house, and run errands in. You can wear a cute outfit even while doing the mundane things! 

My grey sweater is from Kohls (which is a favorite place of mine to find tops).

The skirt is the Women's Ruffle Skirt that is sold at The Modest Mom. 

I'm wearing knee high socks. 

My black shoes are a walmart speciality. :) 

I'm wearing a small pair of diamond earrings that my sweet husband gave me last Mother's Day! 

My hair is pulled back in a half up with a size small flex clip in.

Announcing Modest Mondays!

There can be no doubt about it - modesty is under attack. Whether it is through the media, billboards, stores, and yes - even the church, modesty is blatantly ignored and openly disgraced and mocked in todays society. If a woman or young lady decides to wear skirts all the time, people view them as strange and radical. All of a sudden they have become Amish in other people's eyes, simply because they have on a jean skirt!

It is my desire to encourage and support women that desire to wear dresses and look feminine. There are many different ways to do that - I don't want to set a standard of the "one way" to dress. I do want to provide encouragement that you are not the only one out there in a dress! So, without further delay, I would like to introduce to something new I will be doing with the blog.

Every Monday on the blog you will find pictures of myself or a family member showing a complete outfit with ideas and tips. Sometimes I will take pictures of my daughter to highlight as well.

On the first Monday of every month there will be a Modest Mondays link up, where you can link up a blog post that has something to do with modesty.

Here is the first outfit which is what I wore to church yesterday.

The Maxi Dress is from Old Navy.

 The layering shell from The Modest Mom is a half shell so it made the maxi dress easy to nurse in.

 I wore a black Pashmina scarf that I just got from Zulily. It created a fashionable nursing cover. :)

My vintage black earrings are from the adorable Wired Vintage Etsy Store. 

I'm wearing Black Mary Jane Shoes.
