Announcing Modest Mondays!
It is my desire to encourage and support women that desire to wear dresses and look feminine. There are many different ways to do that - I don't want to set a standard of the "one way" to dress. I do want to provide encouragement that you are not the only one out there in a dress! So, without further delay, I would like to introduce to something new I will be doing with the blog.
Every Monday on the blog you will find pictures of myself or a family member showing a complete outfit with ideas and tips. Sometimes I will take pictures of my daughter to highlight as well.
On the first Monday of every month there will be a Modest Mondays link up, where you can link up a blog post that has something to do with modesty.
Here is the first outfit which is what I wore to church yesterday.
The Maxi Dress is from Old Navy.
The layering shell from The Modest Mom is a half shell so it made the maxi dress easy to nurse in.
I wore a black Pashmina scarf that I just got from Zulily. It created a fashionable nursing cover. :)
My vintage black earrings are from the adorable Wired Vintage Etsy Store.
I'm wearing Black Mary Jane Shoes.
I hope you enjoy Modest Mondays! :)

This is wonderful! Hurray for Modesty!
Wonderful! Your outfit is cute and I look forward to the link-up too!
Thank you for being an encourager to those of us who choose to wear skirts/dresses! Keep up the good work!
:) You look Great..
I started a Sunday's Dress :) like your post but on Sundays lol,and now a Feminine Friday :)
Very Cute! I always look at those maxi dresses and think, "Those would be so cute if they weren't so low cut." Well, duh, I could use my shell.
Rachel,
I love to get ideas from other people! I look at pictures and think "why didn't I think of that?" So glad the shell idea was helpful!
You look beautiful! I love the idea of using a pretty accessory to double as a nursing cover!
We love to dress modestly and there are lots of ways to do so without the ole faithful jean skirt or jumper (eek!). It is easier to do in the winter than the summer sometimes because you can layer things without being hot! Can't wait to see more ideas you have! :)
Love the outfit! I have been reading your blog over the past 6 months. You have been very inspirational. I started wearing skirts during the summer and have continued to wear them to work (business professional attire). I love the femininity and comfort.
Oh you look beautiful :). I use long, white, high neck tank tops for modesty under low cut dresses and shirts. I always think it's such a shame that everything is so low cut because the extra layers get hot during the summer. At least we still get to wear cute, modest clothes :). Looking forward to this series!
I love your outfit, and that's a clever use of a scarf. I wish I'd thought of that years ago when I started nursing babies! Looking forward to Modest Mondays.
I love your outfit, and that's a clever use of a scarf. I wish I had thought of that years ago when I started nursing babies! Looking forward to Modest Mondays. (Although I'm not sure I'll shop at Old Navy; they give 10% of their income to gay/lesbian groups.)
That is a beautiful outfit! Do they make maxi dresses in a petite length? I'm afraid I would trip over the hem too much!
I'll try to remember to link up, I have a rather artsy and unusual style, which mixes very interestingly with modest dress.
I enjoy posts about modesty and ideas to look modest AND stylish. Even people at church and within my own age group act a little strange when I dress modestly, I guess it's a dying art. Thanks for helping to show you don't have to look frumpy at all.
Your dress is so pretty and feminine. I understand what you mean about wearing dresses and people thinking you are Amish. I was in the grocery store last Saturday, a woman came up to me and ask if I was a "Special Religion".I was wearing a denim dress (ankle length) and black sweater tights. She was looking at my legs. Then said she had noticed women in long dresses and dark hose and "little white caps" in the stores and just wondered if we were a special religion. I was speechless!
I don't have a blog but I will definitely look forward to Modest Mondays. Thanks for your encouragement!
Linda
I like your outfit, Can you run it it? Very beautiful.
LOVE this idea! I have the hardest time deciding what shoes to wear with my skirts in the winter.......and I don't have enough winter skirts!
Love this idea. My teenage girls need to see modest fashion done well!
I was just thinking the other day "I wish someone would do a post like Amy did with Raising Arrows last year." I would love to link up with you and see other's modest fashion :) Thank you!
Wonderful idea! I'm glad there are some great sources for pretty, modest clothing online now. Most of the stores near me have pretty slim pickings in that department. And I love how you're showing modest doesn't have to also mean ugly.
I"m really looking forward to this! Need some new ideas to look nice and attractive. My husband is not a Christian, and I don't think he fully understands why I have felt the need to switch to skirts in the last year. Even though he doesn't complain, I want to look nice for him!
Found you via Far Above Rubies. This is such a great idea!! It's fantastic to find other women dedicated to living modestly--to honor God and bless our brothers in Christ. And that is a lovely dress. :)
