A Very Special Announcement!

You may have noticed that the blog was more quiet than usual for a few weeks. I honestly just couldn't keep up on it for a while. I was busy doing something else.....like......

Growing a baby!!! :)

We are expecting our fifth, due January 9th, 2012! Cheers of joy are going up at our house, and the children are so excited! My morning sickness started at six weeks, and it's still not totally over now at 10 weeks. It was the worst I have had yet - I lost 10 pounds from not being able to keep anything down and the toilet became my new worst friend. :(

My two little girls trying to snuggle with a sick mama

I spent a lot of time in bed, and let me tell you it was hard sometimes to stay focused on why I was going through this. On top of the morning sickness I experienced strep throat for the first time in my life, and the combination totally wiped me out. I thought of my Mom a lot as I lay in bed with fatigue so bad I didn't even want to roll over, and wondered how she managed to stay cheerful and strong all those years of battling fatigue with her Lupus. The memories of how strong she was kept me going in my weak moments, and I praise God for her example and strength even after she has left this earth.

We were incredibly blessed with a Mother In Law who came over about every other day to keep up on the dishes and laundry, and make sure the children didn't turn into wild Indians while I lay in bed. :) My sister also came over and helped. Today my husband is blessing me with having some mother's helpers come and scrub the floors and bathrooms. My energy level is still pretty low, so I'm excited to have some clean floors again!

We will have 5 children 8 and under when the new baby is born! I have spent a lot of time re-evaluating our homeschooling methods, and what exactly will work with so many little ones. I *think* I have come up with a good fit for our next year, and I can't wait to finish up this year and start on the new books! We are not going to take much of a summer break, as I want to be able to take off plenty of time when the new baby comes.

In the next few weeks look for posts on dealing with morning sickness, homeschooling methods and what we have chosen, and in the next few months you will start seeing posts and pictures on being modest while pregnant! :)

Congratulations :) I am a mother to 6, ages 9 and under...though when our youngest was born, my oldest was barely 8! With God's strength, you can certainly figure out your homeschooling. It may change in those first few months, when you are caring for a newborn, but you'll soon find your routine!

Congratulations! I have a grown daughter and hubby and I have 2, ages 10 and 7. Today our first foster-to-adopt son arrives. We plan on adding many more children.

Praying your morning sickness passes soon and you can enjoy your pregnancy.

Congratulations!!! What a blessing!! I certainly understand how you feel. I too have hyperemesis, and it is still going on at 25 weeks...Ugh... Lasted until 27 weeks with my first, so I am hoping it will ease up soon. My daughter will be 11.5 months when this baby is born, and I am already wondering how all you moms with multiple young children do it! You are definitely an inspiration! (Especially since I am not even close to the homeschooling phase of life yet!) Praying that your sickness will pass soon!

God Bless!

Congratulations :) We are on baby #5 as well, due in July. This is also the sickest I have ever been. Never really experienced morning sickness until this pregnancy. I had a nasty cold & cough at the beginning (had to actually take codeine I did as little as possible), and had the flu 2x as well. I lost 20 pounds here and there over the course of the pregnancy and of course gained it all back so far! Praying the rest of the pregnancy goes better for you than it has so far! Enjoy all those youngun's :)

Congratulations!! :) And I send much sympathy to you over the morning sickness. I am 21 weeks with #6 and felt terrible until about 16 weeks. So all of that is still very fresh in my memory. I hope that you feel better very soon and can start enjoying this time. It's hard to remember what this is all for when you're so early and feel so bad. :)

Congratulations! We are expecting #5 this fall (Sept) and I spent the first 16 weeks dealing with hyperemesis (severe nausea and vomiting) while trying to finish the homeschool year and manage our home. This is my first visit to your page but I will be visiting from now on and praying for you as well -as someone who knows all too well (and too fresh!) what you are going through!
Blessing to you all! ♥

I always have ms throughout, but it was worst with my fifth pregnancy too -- worth it all though when we were surprised to give birth to not one, but two baby boys! Yup, even following a 16wk ultrasound at which I asked if there were two!

I just had #6 May 6 and my #5 just turned 1 yesterday, so I am praying about what to do as far as school scheduling and just our day to day routine. My newborn constantly nurses or cries, so he seems to ne quite a needy little one. I was just thinking about you when I got the email to your blog post. I can't wait to see what your plans are. Maybe I can glean off you! I hope you feel better soon. Had it not been for zofran the 1st 6 months of my pregnancy with #5 , I would have had to have a toilet attached to my face! I will be keeping you in my prayers.

Oh wow! Caroline!!! How exciting for you and your family!!! Congratulations!

I am SO sorry that you are so sick though! I understand the morning sickness part as I had severe all day sickness with both our babies for the first trimester. Yuck. And to have strep throat on top of it! Wow!

What a blessing that you have so many wonderful people there to encourage and help you during this time!

God bless you!!!

You are in my prayers!

When I saw the photo you posted, Caroline, it really pulled at my heartstrings! That's exactly how I look and feel through the first 4 months of every pregnant. And yes, home schooling through this adds additional challenges. In fact, morning sickness is the reason we are almost 2 months behind on schoolwork right now, but that's ok because the beauty of home learning is it's so flexible.

I'm 32 weeks along now and number 6 is due in August - yep, just a few weeks before school starts - so I know just how you feel with the challenges facing you.

It's so good that you have your mother as a shining example, and don't ever forget you have us, your "virtual friends" here on the blog, praying for you and baby, and encouraging you in any way we can.

Blessings,
Anne

Congratulations! I will pray for a healthy baby, and an easier pregnancy. I know how difficult it can be having so many little ones at once, but it is a season, and the older ones grow and help with the younger ones. Enjoy your children, one day at a time! They grow SO fast. 6 of our children are 8 and under, so I understand the craziness! I am looking forward to your homeschooling ideas (especially dealing with babies, toddlers and preschoolers while doing school with the older ones). God bless you as you seek to please Him!

Congratulations!! I can so sympathize with how you're feeling right now -I've had extreme morning sickness with all 3 of mine, usually lasting till about 20 wks. It is the worst sickness I know of - just seems like nothing helps...except time. I, too, spent a lot of time in bed during those weeks - I'm so glad it's over and I really hope that yours gets better soon! I know how truly miserable it can be, especially with younger ones around to take care of.
Thanks so much for your visit to my blog, and your kind comments. I realize now that I've been to your online shop before :) Love your ruffle skirts! And, sure, you are more than welcome to post a link to my maternity post. I love clothes, SHOPPING for clothes, and maternity clothes were no exception - I had fun finding cute things to wear, and I hope that post helps other ladies who are looking for modest maternity things.
So nice to meet you, and I hope you feel better soon!

What wonderful news! Another beautiful baby, a gift from heaven. I am so happy for you. I am sending my thoughts for feeling better soon your way. Have you tried ginger capsules yet? That helped me in the first trimester somewhat. Time was the best remedy (and something I know you know, too). Hang in there!

Congratulations, and may God bless your family.
Try not to worry about that morning sickness though. When I was pregnant I got through the day by eating dry crackers, ginger biscuits and citrus fruit. Some say girl pregnancies are tougher this way. It was like that for me too.
(maybe, just maybe you will be blessed with a daughter!!)

Congratulations!

I sounds to me like you have been suffering from hyperemesis gravidarum and not morning sickness (morning sickness is far more mild).

I'm going through it for my fourth time :o) Thankfully I've been blessed with a wonderful Christian Doctor who has taken it very seriously.

I also started getting sick at six weeks. Eventually I couldn't move or even speak without throwing up. What worked for me was a combination of Diclectin (it's vitamin B with an antihistamine, most common drug for pregnancy nausea in Canada) and Maxeran (nausea drug used for chemo patients).

I'm 26 weeks now and still sick in the mornings, but it's normal morning sickness at this point, and not hyperemesis.

I'm so glad to see you have lots of help!! Tiredness and stress always makes the nausea so much worse.

When I can't hold food down I find meal replacement drinks such as Boost or Ensure are a good option, and since they are dairy free they aren't so terrible when they come back up :) Yogurt also worked really well for me when I was really sick - it's easy on the tummy and a good source of protein for Baby.
