New Maternity/Nursing Dress!!

I posted on Facebook that I had found a fantastic new dress online and received requests to see the dress! So here are pictures. :)

The dress was from Target (available online only) but you can actually buy it cheaper on Amazon. I had some Target gift cards which is why I went ahead and bought it from them.

I seldom buy clothes online and let me tell you, I felt for you ladies who purchase skirts from The Modest Mom and have to figure out your measurements and hope you are choosing the right size! I was nervous to pick a size, but went with the size small and it fits just right!

12 weeks pregnant!

The dress is a maternity/nursing maxi dress, which of course is advertised as wearing the dress without a shirt under it. :) I think it looks fine adding the shirt, and I don't think it will be hard to nurse in it if I wear a light weight top under it. The gathered layer pulls up over the bodice, revealing nursing openings. But nobody even guessed it was a nursing dress until I told them. Love that!! I don't like wearing nursing clothes that scream at people *I NURSE IN THIS!!* It's embarrassing to me. :)

I hardly ever wear a dress while nursing, so I'm thrilled to have found this! It was super comfy to wear all day, and I still have plenty of room to grow in it as my tummy gets bigger!

You can get the black color here, or the grey color here. The grey is quite a bit cheaper right now, so it might be a good one to pick if you are not sure you will like the dress! Also, the dress is really long. If you are shorter, you will need to have it hemmed. I'm 5'5", and it is almost to long on me!

My sweet husband and I on Father's Day!

It's so nice to see a dress that can be made modest (with the addition of a top) that you can purchase ready-to-wear. It looks very nice on you. I'm sure you will get a lot of good use out of it.

That is a cute dress. And you are right ~ doesn't look like a nursing dress at all! Very flattering!

I've been looking for a long maternity gown to sleep in that could double as a nursing dress when baby is born in August. This may do the trick! Thanks, Caroline.

What a pretty dress; it is so becoming! I love wearing dresses, but usually give it up due to nursing, so it was very encouraging to see this. Blessings!

Thanks for posting this :) I am due next month so I don't need the maternity part but would love to have some cute comfy nursing dresses. Thanks for the tip on the length too, I am 5', so I would need my MIL to hem it up for me (I so do not sew! LOL).

What a great dress! Thank you so much for posting this, and the grey option too! I ordered the grey one just now, once I get it and see how I like it I may just order the black too! I'm due in just two months, so a dress like this is perfect to get me through the last months and then get to wear right away post pardum! Yay!

I know what you mean about obvious nursing wear...I once bought a shirt with two vertical zippers on the front. That was a bit much for going out in public without a baby in a front carrier lol
Your dress is so pretty on you and what a great find! That style is so nice.

It would be a lovely dress for those of us who aren't pregnant. The top is really nice with it:)

@ Jo, yes I think the dress would work well for ladies who are not pregnant as well!

I would have just put a shrug over it. I like the dress a lot, and I have lot of maxi dresses. And I just put a shrug over it. Then when I'm at home, I take the shrug off.

Do you mind me asking your measurements? I'm looking to buy this for a wedding that is at the beginning of August, so I won't have time to exchange if I get the wrong size. You look like you're about my size.

Heather, I think I emailed you the length of the dress. I normally wear a size 6 (sometimes 8 for modesty) when I'm not nursing. Though that is for tops and dresses, I have no clue what size pants I wear! Does that help?

Is the dress knit or woven, that would help in my decision, we are expectimg in October,

The dress is a knit.

I came to your blog from Money Saving Mom, and have really enjoyed looking through it. :-)
By the way, I think your hair looks really nice. Still long, but more bouncy and cute. ;-)
