Happy 4th Of July!!

Little George Washington (my second born son!) shaking Big George Washington's hand last year at our Fourth of July gathering.

Concerning July 4th - John Adams (2nd USA President) wrote to his wife:

"It ought to be celebrated, as the day of deliverance, by solemn acts of devotion to God Almighty. It ought to be solemnized with pomp and parade, with shows, games, sports, guns, bells, bonfires and illuminations, from one end of this continent to the other, from this time forward, evermore."

Today is one of our family's favorite holidays! We always have a huge celebration out at my Mother In Law's farm, with a large gathering of friends. We do just what John Adams wrote above, we have a time of giving solemn acts of devotion to God Almighty. There is a speech given every year by a different man, historical reenactments, patriotic music, and then lots of food, fun, and fellowship!

I hope you all have a blessed Fourth of July remembering our God given freedoms that we celebrate!
