Prenatal Vitamins
I don't like taking pills. I've some rather awful moments in the past where some "horse" pills have become lodged in my throat. My Mom got to do the Heimlich maneuver on me, at that point I couldn't talk or breath. Taking Prenatal vitamins has been dreadful to me. The brand I was taking is excellent but a huge pill. To my great relief after some searching I found this:

Lucky Vitamin was the best price I could find on it. My local health food store didn't carry it. It taste great to me!
Then yesterday I found the Vitafusion Prenatal Gummies. It looks worth looking into. I was impressed with the manufacturer's website video clip of how they make their various gummy vitamins. Best of all they are available at Target and a number of various drug stores nationwide such as RiteAid so you wouldn't have any shipping fees.

Looking at hose got the kids in me out somehow! I does look yummy, but I would be concern that our little one would think like me LOL!!!!
I have the same problem with "horse pill" or any pills for that matter, I hate taking them.
So for each pregnancies so far our Doctor does routine check (blood work) to know if baby and I are lacking anything from my diet, and to my surprise I never needed to take any (even with pregnancy back to back and nursing on demand even during pregnancy) all my level are are stay high.
So this is what I wonder, if we eat a healthy diet do we really need the prenatal vitamins, or should we be tested and if lacking some nutriments then take the vitamins??? And are those vitamins really effective or is it a marketing scam???
Sorry I think pregnancy makes me think too much LOL
Have a great day

Renee,
I'm certainly no expert on this subject. My biggest consideration with taking a pre-natal vitamin is getting enough folate (folic acid). Since that seems to be a well researched vitamin that if lacking while pregnant can cause dire consequences for the baby.
The sad truth is most Americans don't eat a healthy diet full of the veggies and fruit they need. If you do that's great! I think it would be wisdom to have the vitamin levels checked. I do have concern when taking pills if my body is able to use to convert them into usable nutrients.
I have read of a women who had some test and the vitamin she had taken was showing up just sitting there in the stomach. Not so helpful! That's why I actually like the idea of a liquid, or gummie, better. I know they will disolve!
I always have questions swirling around in my brain too.:-) I just happen to be more of an analytical nature. Think, think, think :-)
God bless.
